What We Have Is A Failure To Communicate

I seem to remember having a conversation before New Year’s Eve. I seem to remember telling the Powers That Be that I was done with my family filling the whipping boy role. I told them I was done with crap raining down on my family….done with illnesses, done with emergencies, just done. I explained to them that we had done our time and we were resigning the position. It was someone else’s time.

They didn’t listen.

Obviously, they thought I wanted more. Silly me…I forgot that’s what the universe does when you say enough.

Since the beginning of the year, we have encountered flu-like symptoms, multiple migraines, a broken elbow, and, now, I’ve joined the frakking snaggle-tooth club. See, I have this molar with a very large filling in it. Years ago, I had to have the filling replaced and the dentist told me to keep an eye on it because the inner wall was very thin and they were concerned about the strength of it. Late Friday afternoon, I bit into a bagel and heard a crunch. That crunch was the inner wall of that molar breaking into pieces. There are only three factors that keep this from being a total disaster…1) it’s a molar which means it is out of sight and 2) the filling stayed in place which means the root has been protected and it hasn’t hurt at all and 3) the dentist told me they can put a crown on the tooth and they won’t have to pull the tooth.

All I can say is thank God for dental insurance and thank God for a dentist with an opening at 8:45 this morning.

Ew, ew, ew! I’m squirming in sympathy. I have a crown that came out once while I was eating caramel and I still have nightmares about it. Good luck on getting everything patched back up!

I’m hopeful that #1-3 means TPTB are taking it easy on you. Perhaps before the new year it would have been the front tooth, and you would have needed a root canal! 🙂

All jokes aside, I hope things get better soon!

The universe is a jerk. I’m glad that at least the dentist will be able to do a crown for you. Dental emergencies always seem to have a real knack for picking the most inconvenient moment. Thank you so much for stopping by my blog.

Oh no! I think with this post you’ve spelled it out very accurately. And you’ve even managed to express gratitude.

    Hi from ICLW!

I had a filling come out a few months ago. Thankfully it didn’t hurt at all, but I was unable to get it filled for almost 2 months due to being in the first trimester and then holidays.

    Hope everything goes well!
