Can I admit something shameful?

I think I’m a wee bit jealous of my kids. They are getting to go to all these cool summer camps and I want to escape too. Each of my older kids are getting to go to 3 really excellent summer camps. Joey just finished BMX Bike Camp and has soccer and Agape camp coming up. Marty is wrapping up Cary Space Camp and had his Civil War Experience and a camp at Kure Beach coming up.

I have decided the two sleep away camps I want to go to are BlogHer and the Heartland Needleworks Retreat. I’m even willing to be reasonable and wait for Heartland’s Fall Retreat and BlogHer 2010 since BlogHer ’09 is sold out. Even fantasizing about going to these “camps” is pretty damned wonderful. Between these two getaways, I would get to indulge two of my passions…blogging and stitching. It would be sheer bliss to be able to indulge in meeting friends and letting my creativity run rampant witout worrying about when I need to stop and fix dinner. Don’t get me wrong, I love my family dearly. I wouldn’t *trade any of them or any of the time we have with each other. But, everyone needs to recharge.

Sadly, those events are simply outside of our budget for the time being. So, all I need is a fairy godmother to make it all happen. Oh yeah, Ms. Fairy Godmother, if you are feeling particularly generous, I wouldn’t mind the quilting retreats in Florida and Costa Rica too.

*although there are days I understand my parents threat to trade us for 2 goldfish and a canary

Wow, those camps sound like so much fun! I think I’m jealous too!

I hope you get a chance to attend your own “camp” very soon.

Kids get so many opportunities not open to us in our youth..(wonder if our parents ever said that!).

Someday you’ll get to go to camp. Or maybe we need to schedule a CSC “retreat”.

    *interesting trade.

Funny, a few years back after reading some books about a quilt camp I decided I wanted to go. I found one in Maine, signed up and then ended up not having the necessary funds to go. Someday.

I admit too that I’ve been lustfully wishing to go to Blogher. I convinced myself I didn’t want to go and that went down in flames once I actually researched it *sigh* Now I feel like I’m missing out on EVERYTHING! How silly is THAT?! I did mention it to hubby that there is one next year *HINT HINT* Maybe you and I can BOTH go!
HA! my verification word is “joicut”. That pretty much sums it up, eh?

Ooooh. The camps your kiddos are attending AND the adult “camps” you mentioned sound equally wonderful. (Except maybe BMX—yikes! Surely I’d hurt myself!)

Here’s hoping you find some “YOU” time in the form of a fun-yet-affordable getaway really soon.

Yes, we all need to recharge. It makes us sane and also further appreciate our lives. I am looking forward to a 4 day getaway with the girls in a few weeks. I haven’t done something like that in many years. My job as a realtor is 24/7. So I don’t get a full weekend to not work.
Glad you have made time for yourself and have 2 getaways to look forward to.

Ok, sister friend, YOU ARE ON. I’m totally regretting not going to Blogher this year – it’s here in Chicago! – so NEXT YEAR you and I will meet at Blogher, mmmmkay? It is a deal?

And if you are lucky, I may just let you beat me at Scrabble.

Oh, the shame! LOL, you are too funny! I definitely agree that you should start planning for next year. Maybe I’ll start planning to think about it…

I know the feeling. I wish I could go to camp, too!
