My Friday started out at midnight when I left the hotel, walked about 1/4 of a mile, caught a pedi-cab, and headed for the Empire State Building. My middle son is a huge Percy Jackson fan and, ever since he read the books, he’s been fascinated with the Empire State building. So, I promised him I would visit and get pictures.
The view from the observation deck on the 86th floor was unbelievable and awe inspiring. I took a ton of pictures and this is my favorite one…
I am so glad I didn’t miss out on the phenomenal view. Despite walking the whole way back (can’t miss out on picture opportunities), I made it into the shower by 1:45 and bed by 2:15 am.
Despite my late night, I didn’t miss out on anything I really wanted to do on Friday. By now, I’m sure y’all have heard about Martha’s keynote and there were many fabulous sessions but, instead of trying to recap them for you, I’ll point you to the BlogHer’12 Virtual Con. Truly, you can’t do justice to these amazing women and their words with a summary…so go listen to/watch themThe one thing I’ll tell you is that the Voices of the Year speeches were unbelievable…truly incredible and y’all have to watch the video asap.
Besides the sessions and the keynote, Friday was the day I got to go to the Highlights Hello launch party. I remember reading Highlights magazine when I was little and I’m thrilled to know they are still going strong. My 6 yr old loves the High Five magazine and I can’t wait to introduce him to the regular Highlights magazine. The people who were representing Highlights were warm, genuine, and I hope to work with them in the future.
My other fave non-BlogHer event on Friday, was the Naughty Monkey Shoe Party. OMG, I was in shoe heaven. They had the most stunning shoes and the company reps were amazing. You know, no matter how much I adore a product, I have to feel good about a company to even think about working with them. The whole vibe at Naughty Monkey was incredible and I think I love the company as much as I love the shoes.
And, it isn’t Friday at BlogHer without Sparklecorn…
Sparklecorn is loud and wild and a huge amounts of fun…
Why yes, that is a unicorn dancing! But, as much fun as Sparklecorn was, Escaping Sparklecorn (the name I gave our floor gathering) was just as fun. I got to hang out with some of my favorite people and my feet finally got a break.
I collapsed into bed shortly after.
More BlogHer tomorrow, same Bat time, same Bat channel.
