All That and the Kitchen Sink

Forgive me fellow bloggers, for I have sinned. It’s been 2 weeks since my last post. There have been many times I have had grand intentions these past two weeks. There’s been a lot going on and I’ve had a ton of things I could write about. I’ve even had posts thought out. I’ve planned things in a fair amount of detail. And, something always seemed to happen. One night I even had all three kids in bed by 9pm (OMG, do you know how rare that is) and I responded by falling asleep on the couch. In other words, I have no real excuse for not writing.

Here’s a general summary of the craziness that is my life…

  • We had a parent teacher conference back on the 5th. Joey was still having issues making the jump from elementary school mentality to a middle school mentality. As a result, Joey lost all his electronics privileges. Joey has managed to get his shit together and his grades are improving.
  • I found out that one of my best friends is moving…by the end of the month. I know it is what is best for her family but I’m going to miss her so damned much. I have been lucky enough to have her just around the corner for almost 2 years now when I never expected to live in the same location as her…but, I’m so damned sad she is leaving.
  • Gabe got the cast taken off his arm to have it x-rayed about 2 weeks ago. The verdict was that the break was healing well but needed 2 more weeks in a cast. He got the second cast removed on 2/13 and is already showing improved flexibility and range of motion in his elbow.
  • Did you know that casts stink to high heaven after they are removed? I’ve at least heard this but, thanks to some fast maneuvering, I managed to avoid smelling Gabe’s 2 casts. Gabe’s brothers and father were not so lucky. He shoved his casts right in their noses and, I have to admit, it was funny as hell to see their reactions.
  • Gabe had his first communion on 2/10…this past Sunday. I still haven’t figured out how he possibly got to be old enough to have this happening.
  • Marty is attending high school here at home but he isn’t being home-schooled. Because of ongoing issues (can’t really say more at his request), public high school was no longer an option. However, we found a great option that allows self paced learning…James Madison High School. It is fully accredited (both nationally and regionally) and it seems like it will work well.
  • My Sweet Jolie girl is having issues again. It started yesterday. Her balance is all screwed up and I’m praying it’s just another episode of old age induced doggie vertigo like she had back in November. She isn’t in pain. She still goes outside and even manages stairs but she’s running into things right and left like she did before.  I’m really scared we might not have much longer with her.

  • On the happy side, we got our tax return back and I’m getting my upgrade for my laptop. But, instead of another laptop, I’m getting an iPad 3rd generation. It’s been ordered and I CAN NOT WAIT to get it.
  • And, the kitchen sink in the post title. Well, it’s not really a kitchen sink. It’s a new to us stove. Thanks to our tax return and a Craigslist search, we are the proud new owners of a flat top stove that is actually younger than our youngest child. It works fabulously.

What’s going on with y’all?

Sounds as if you have been very very busy. I hate hearing that your sweet dog is not doing well, I hope things improve quickly. It’s never easy losing a friend especially one that is like family. The high school option for Marty sounds really good and may give me an option in a few years, I had never heard of them till now. Glad to hear Gabe got that cast off but can’t believe he is big enough for first communion. Hopefully Joey will start getting into the middle school mentality, we had a really hard time with that in our house.

I hear you! I keep having the best of intentions to write at LEAST once a week, but was having a hard time.

That’s a lot to deal with! I well understand how it would be hard to try and sum it all up without getting lost in it.

Sorry to hear you have so much going on right now. Hoping that things ease up.

Hoping the doggie’s issue is just the ear imbalance (one of my dogs got that before) I think I read that it can be reoccurring, but usually doesn’t happen a lot.

I’m glad that Gabe’s arm is on the mend. And that Joey is getting his stuff together. I hope that Marty does well with the new school program.

It’s hard when your friend moves away 🙁 My best friend moved away last year and it was really hard, even though we still talked every other day on the phone. She just moved back and it was a huge relief, but I feel ya on them moving away and being sad about that (*hugs*)
